Sinn Fein TD Jonathan O’Brien has wished Cork City FC “the very best of luck” ahead of the FAI Cup Final this Sunday at the AVIVA Stadium.
Deputy O’Brien, who is a devoted supporter and former Chairperson of the club, said;
“I want to wish John Caulfield and his squad the very best of luck on Sunday. The lads have played very well and they have fought very hard this season. They deserve all the accolades that they are receiving in the build-up to the big match.
“You can sense the anticipation in the air around the city. As a passionate supporter of Cork City FC, I am personally excited about the prospect of my local club having the opportunity to seize FAI Cup glory this weekend.
“That is a testament to John Caulfield, his players, the supporters and all those who work to ensure the continued success of Cork City FC. They are fantastic role models for young people and they are admirable sporting ambassadors for Cork
“I will be in the stadium on Sunday proudly cheering them on as always. Im sure that I will have a few tense moments on Sunday. I have no doubt that I will be hoarse when I return home, but that is a small price to pay for supporting the club that you love.
“I know that the team will do us very proud and that they will return to Leeside as heroes, no matter the result.”
