Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald TD will address a public meeting in Bandon, Co. Cork on Friday, October 23rd.
Sinn Féin General Election candidate Cllr Rachel McCarthy today invited all interested groups and members of the public to attend the meeting at the Munster Arms Hotel in Bandon at 8.30pm.
Deputy McDonald and Cllr McCarthy will outline how Sinn Féin in government would set about delivering a fair recovery and a more equal society.
Councillor McCarthy said;
“It has been a couple days now since the hype of Budget 2016. People have had the opportunity to see through the spin and realise that this government has continued to ignore the most vulnerable in society. Over the last four and half years, Fine Gael and Labour have fundamentally undermined the delivery of frontline services across health and education. They have sat by and watched the housing crisis develop into a national emergency with thousands of people and their dependents languishing on waiting lists.
“This meeting provides an opportunity for the people of Cork South West to hear Sinn Féin’s vision for a fairer society. Sinn Féin has consistently called for a fairer recovery, prioritised progressive taxation and investment in public services. We have put forward comprehensive policies centred on these principles.
“Rebuilding the economy and delivering the recovery for all citizens will require a significant investment in public services, targeted where need is most acute. Mary Lou and I are delighted to take this opportunity to highlight how Sinn Féin would set about achieving this goal.
“We are delighted to welcome Mary Lou back to West Cork for this meeting. I strongly encourage people to attend and get involved in the discussion on the night.”
