At 5.30pm tomorrow – Thursday, May 28th – in the Atrium of Cork City Council, Anglesea Street “Ideopolis” will be launched.
Its backers say it’s a new initiative which is all about creative ideas.
“Its aim is to create a forum for new ideas of all kinds in business, in the cultural area generally, in community work, specifically in the arts and heritage areas. It is open to all and anyone with a creative idea, big or small, will find a welcome for it in the Ideopolis forum where it will be taken seriously, discussed and where possible acted upon appropriately.”
Ideopolis , during this year’s pilot phase, will host a series of public conversations and develop an online resource packed with information, discussion and examples of creative new developments locally and internationally. It will also bring together people with different specialism’s and new ways of talking and thinking about subjects we all approach from our own area of expertise. One of its chief tasks will be laying the groundwork and establishing the local network needed for the creation of a FESTIVAL OF IDEAS in the city.
UCC Emeritus Professor John A Murphy will read his wonderful account of his childhood music and THE PIANO IN MACROOM
