Ireland 2016 is a National initiative to develop, coordinate and deliver a programme to be delivered from for the 2016 centenary year with local, national, and international events based the ideals of 1916, the Proclamation, and the events of that time.
Plans are currently underway to commemorate 1916 which will include engaging with a wide range of cultural and community activities, including working with local historians, heritage groups and organisations, artists, poets, musicians, Irish language bodies, festivals – in fact everyone in our community – to ensure that 2016 is a truly memorable year.
On Tuesday, May 26th from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Concert Hall, City Hall, Cork City Council will host a public workshop to afford everyone who is interested an opportunity to offer their own suggestions and listen to the ideas of others and inform Cork City’s 2016 Centenary Programme.
