When you play EuroMillions is it worth ticking the extra box to play EuroMillions plus? Plus is an Irish draw, with lesser prizes where a player has twice the chance of wining. Today the answer for some people from Cork arrived, and it was a firm “yes”.
A delighted syndicate from East Cork travelled to National Lottery offices this morning to collect €500,000, the top prize in the EuroMillions Plus game, which they won on Friday night last (Friday 10 April 2015). The ticket was a €6 Quickpick ticket, purchased on Friday in Ahern’s Centra Store, Main Street, Killeagh, Co. Cork.
The Cork syndicate, who do not wish their win to be public, broke records with the speed with which they collected their prize. They have been playing EuroMillions together since it began, but this is their biggest win to date.
‘We’re delighted to have won this prize. It’s a wonderful feeling. Plans for the win? At the moment, it hasn’t really registered with any of us. But we’ll keep playing, another draw tomorrow night, and we’re already looking forward to the next big win’, they smiled over a glass of champagne.
National Lottery good causes benefit from the sale of all National Lottery games, with one third of all sales (approx) going to fund Beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government.
To date, the National Lottery has raised over €4.5 billion for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage, the Irish Language and the Environment.
