Cork City W.F.C. vs Galway W.F.C. Match Preview
Cork City take on Galway in a bottom of the league clash at Bishopstown Stadium this Sunday 15th March 2015 at two o’clock in what is their penultimate home game of the season.
The Leesiders have faced some tough weeks as injuries and suspensions have taken their toll on a small squad which has seen a severe dip in results. However, things have looked up for the Leeside club in the past couple of weeks with powerful right-back Nathalie O’Brien returning from the long-term injury list after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken leg. It is hoped she will take some part in the Galway game.
On the treatment table, Angie Carry is carrying a knock and is a slight doubt coming into this game while Chloe Ahern, Natalie Coughlan and Laura Medbury have been suffering with illness or education commitments in the past few weeks which might affect their involvement in Sunday’s game.
While Cork has their last outing cancelled due to the weather against Peamount United, Galway have faced a huge break since their last game all the way back on February 1st, a 3-1 reversal to Peamount.
Comment on the upcoming game, manager Charlie Lynch had this to say “We have had a number of injuries, illness and suspensions over the last couple of weeks which has made it difficult for the squad. However, hopefully we’re seeing this clear up. We need to tighten up defensively again completely. We are determined to pick up some points over the last four games of the season, and being able to field our best eleven will go some way to achieving this.”
Cork City will also have to reschedule a fixture against Peamount United following the postponement of the game on February 22nd after Greenogue was declared unplayable on the day.
