The 26th Cork French Film Festival has begun.
Again this year Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, is Patron.
The festival was be officially launched by Cork’s Lord Mayor, Cllr
Mary Shields together with our guest of honour Mathieu Amalric.
Mathieu Amalric is an internationally acclaimed director and actor.
His stunning adaptation of Georges Simenon’s The Blue Room features
thus year. Mr Amalric will present a series of special Q&A screenings
as we highlight the eclectic range of his work with a retrospective
that includes the 2007 hit The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, which
brought Amalric international acclaim, and On Tour for which he won
the Best Director award in Cannes. Amalric will also conduct a
filmmaking workshop focusing on the director/actor relationship.
