Visiting restriction imposed yesterday (Tuesday February 17) due to an
increased number of Influenza cases at Cork’s Mercy University
Hospital (MUH) will remain in place for the next 24 hours and will be
reviewed again tomorrow.
The hospital has reintroduced visiting restrictions in the interest of
patient safety following the admission of a number of additional
patients suffering from influenza.
MUH areas unaffected by the restrictions are the Outpatient
Departments, the children’s ward, critical care areas and the Mercy
Urgent Care Centre (MUCC) at St. Mary’s Health Care Campus at the
former Orthopedic Hospital at Gurranabraher.
The hospital wishes to thank the public for their cooperation with the
restrictions.
People with flu-like symptoms are advised to telephone or visit their
GPs, in the first instance, rather than presenting at the hospital’s
Emergency Department.
