Here at TheCork.ie we have a love, and hate, relationship with Subway,
or SUBWAY® to give it its correct name.
Over time we’ve alternated between the Oliver Plunkett Street and
McCurtain Street outlets in the City Centre, collecting points and
enjoying free subs which take too long to acquire.
But beyond Cork City we’ve had a problem… There just aren’t enough
SUBWAY® stores in COUNTY Cork.
The outlet in Carrigaline around 2009? closed quickly.
So good news for us today, Mayfield is getting a SUBWAY®
Below is the text provided by the multinational franchise:
A new SUBWAY® store has opened in Cork creating 8 new jobs in the
local community. Located in Mayfield, the new store offers a huge
range of Subs, salads, treats and drinks to choose from. It is one of
21 new SUBWAY® stores set to open in 2015.
SUBWAY® stores are famous for their made-to-order submarine sandwiches
which are served on a variety of breads, freshly baked* in each store
throughout the day. Customers can choose from a variety of meats,
fresh vegetables and sauces.
At the core of the SUBWAY® lighter offering is the range of nine Low
Fat Subs, each containing less than 3g of fat per 100g and fewer than
370 calories per 6 inch Sub, making them the perfect complement to an
active lifestyle. Customers, who select the five salad items which
come as part of the standard Sub build, are automatically getting one
of the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Both
the 9-Grain Wheat Bread and the 9-Grain Honey Oat bread at SUBWAY®
stores are also high in fibre and an excellent source of calcium and
vitamin D.
“I’m very excited to be opening a brand new SUBWAY® store” said
franchisee Tracey Kelleher. “It is ideally located in Mayfield to give
locals and shoppers a lighter lunchtime option.”
The SUBWAY® brand is the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise,
with over 38,000 locations in more than 100 countries
Headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, the SUBWAY® brand was
co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. That partnership
marked the beginning of a remarkable journey, which has made it
possible for thousands of individuals to build and succeed in their
own business
