Around 100 heavy fertilizer bags of waste were found in a ditch in Co
Cork this week by the Waste Enforcement Team of Cork County Council.
The local authority had received a report about the dumping. They
found several discrete piles at the roadside. The bags were cable-tied
shut.
A sample number of bags were checked but no identifying info was found
so the bags were taken away for examination.
The waste was carefully taken away, so that none would slide down a
slope into a tributary of the Glashaboy river.
The Council are putting a positive spin on the situation as the staff
allocated to cleanup the bags were redeployed workers from Civic
Amenity Sites.
Workers who were freed up by the bring sites reducing their opening hours.
