A new book featuring historic photographs of Cork City taken by the man who
built up “Barry’s Tea” has been published.
The late Anthony Barry had a successful business and political career;
serving as a TD, Senator, and City Councillor including a term as Lord
Mayor.
Every day as he walked to work on Prince’s Street he would take photograph
Cork Citizens going about their daily lives:
showing the commercial and social aspects of the City, and also the labor
side of ships on the quayside, and the Coal Quay traders.
The photos were never exhibited or published during his lifetime.
Now, Anthony’s granddaughter, Orla Kelly is behind a new book called “Cork
life in the 1960s”
