Cork City Councilors have finally been given a report into the Events
Centre situation.
The 31 elected Councillors had been asking the Chief Executive, and her
predecessor, for an update
on progress for many months with Councillors complaining that the media
knew more about
the Events Centre then they did!
The Government have allocated 10 million, and the City Council will provide
4 million
to whichever property developer is successful in a tendering process.
A decision on South Main Street versus Albert Quay should be made before
Christmas,
with construction to begin early in 2015.
A 7 page progress update has now been given to City Councillors.
Fianna Fail Cllr Sean Martin is pleased that the new Chief Executive of the
City Council
is listening to the elected Councillors
