Investigations continue into an aggravated burglary during which a pensioner was attacked with an iron bar.
It happened around 3am on Monday morning on Rathpeacon Road, Farranree, on the northside of Cork City
An intruder entered the house of a 75 year old man through a window and demanded money, they managed escape with around 500 euro in cash.
The victim was taken to the Mercy University Hospital for treatment.
Gardaí at Watercourse Road Station are investigating.
