The Failte Ireland Wild Atlantic Way driving route is in jeopardy in Cork
That’s the warning from a West Cork County Councillor
Cllr Michael Collins, from the Mizen Peninsula says overgrown verges
and hedges are putting off foreign tourists who are driving rented
cars.
The Wild Atlantic Way is marketed to tourists at a 2,500 kilometre
journey through Ireland’s scenic towns and villages from Kinsale to
Donegal.
Already County Councils alomng the Ireland’s equivalent of Route 66
have had to improve road surfaces,
now there are calls to tackle overgrown greenery.
Independent County Councillor Michael Collins says not cutting verges
is a false economy
