The surgeon who separated the conjoined Benhaffaff twins is being honoured
in Cork tonight
Doctor Edward Kiely was born in Cork, and has been a Consultant Neonatal
and Paediatric Surgeon in London for the past three decades at the Great
Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
The Benhaffaf twins – now aged 4 – will be on hand to present the “Spirit
of Cork Award” trophy.
It’s the first year of this new award, and the Lord Mayor, County Mayor and
other representatives of the business, charity, and civic communities will
attend.
Organiser is Cork magazine publisher Michael Mulcahy…
A separate Spirit of Cork Award will be given annually in memory of a
famous Cork person who has passed away
