Cork County and City Councils have announced a partnership allowing
the two separate local authority’s to “speak with one voice” on a
number of issues.
It’s called “Cork Inc.” and the goal is to attract business, tourism,
investment and people.
Over the past 12 months a number of stakeholders including the Cork
Convention Bureau have worked to develop a “strategic message for the
region”
Increasingly areas across Europe are joining forces:- such as Leeds
and Manchester, Bristol and Bath to advance their profiles.
A new post of “Strategic Head of Marketing” is being created for the
head of Cork Inc.
The governance structure will include representatives of the Cork
Business Association, Chamber of Commerce, Port of Cork, Enterprise
Ireland, and the IDA
However, the announcement comes just days after a former County Mayor
Tim Lombard floated the idea of a COMPLETE merger of the County and
City Councils.
