Plans to invite the Pope to visit Cork have taken another step forward
A Former Deputy Lord Mayor of the City proposed the invitation two weeks
ago,
and an internal committee – the corporate policy group – have now approved
the idea
in principal.
Fine Gael CITY Cllr Emmet O’Halloran says nationally the Seanad has already
voted to invite Pope Francis
to visit Ireland, and just like the Queen in 2011 if that happens he hopes
the VIP would also visit Cork.
The formal decision to issue an invitation now rests with the Lord Mayor.
Cllr O’Halloran says there are TWO key reasons why the Pontiff should be
invited to Cork
