As a result of routine profiling, officers from Revenue’s Customs Service at Cork Airport last night, (Sunday), seized 120,000 cigarettes with a retail value of €56,886 and potential loss to the Exchequer of €43,770.
The “Marlboro” brand cigarettes were discovered in twelve suitcases, when officers stopped and searched four males as they disembarked a flight that had arrived in from Wroclaw.
Two Polish nationals in their twenties were arrested by officers, appeared at Cork District Court today and were remanded in custody to appear at Cork District Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
