Roof canopy collapsed on platform 1/2
Iarnród Éireann is advising customers that Kent Station Cork is closed
at present due to the partial collapse of a roof canopy at platform 1
and 2, from which commuter trains to Cobh and Midleton operate.
The roof section collapsed at 15.00hrs approximately, and has
primarily come down on a train which was not in service, and on the
platform at the time. Emergency services are at the scene, and it is
understood that one customer has been injured, although thankfully the
injuries are not life threatening. While there were high winds and
rain in the area at the time, the cause of the incident is not known
at this time, and will be the subject of a full investigation.
Cork to Cobh/Midleton services are temporarily suspended, and
Dublin/Cork services are operating between Dublin and Mallow only.
More information will be updated at www.irishrail.ie when available.
