The new Hollyhill road on the northside of the city – developed to boost the IT sector and local industries in Hollyhill –
is to be named after the late Cllr Dave McCarthy who represented the people of the northside since 1985.
Speaking tonight in City hall, neighbour and fellow Councillor Tony Fitzgerald stated that the naming of the new road is a fitting tribute to the late Councillor who was the people’s champion and very much admired and respected.
Cllr Fitzgerald added that Each evening after a match or council meeting Davy would head off for a walk with a few friends and head up towards Apple Computers. Along the route he would meet the people and attend to their queries and take the issues home and contact or call to city hall the next day to address them. He is sadly missed by his family and the community and his memory will live on by the naming of this new road.
