A relic of “old cork” on the Model Farm Road could be in line for renovation.
The Gate Lodge at the entrance to the IDA Business Park is owned by the City Council but has fallen into disrepair.
It dates back to the 1850’s when it marked the entrance to a “Model Farm” that the road is now named after.
The Cork City Manager says the building is small he but he will ask the City Architect for a report on what works are needed, and some money will be set aside in next years budget.
Cllr and Historian Kieran McCarthy would like to see the building used
as a small meeting place for community groups
