35 per cent of people in Ireland regularly buy goods or services online
and Irish shoppers are set to double their online spending in the next
five years
That’s according to a recent report on ecommerce in Europe by research
firm Mintel
The report, which looked at 19 markets in Europe, indicates that
online shopping is still in its infancy, with ecommerce sales not
exceeding 10 percent in any country.
But, there are negatives to online shopping…
Locally… the Cork Business Association says City traders are seeing
a fall off in trade.
The Cork Business Assocation points to the example two weeks ago of
Crowleys Music Shop on MacCurtain Street closing. It’s owner said her
trade had been decimated by musicians choosing to buy instruments
online
