A Fine Gael Councillor in Cork is to boycott the Taoiseach’s visit to Cork
tomorrow, (Thursday)
Cork City Cllr Des Cahill is a businessman in Ballintemple running a
Butcher’s.
He wants to protest the Governments failure to support small business.
He says the domestic economy is suffering because thousands of SME’s
cannot get cashflow from banks, most of which are now state-owned.
The Fine Gael Cllr says it is small businesses that employ the bulk of
people across the Country
and he’s calling on the Taoiseach to order the banks to start lending again.
He says he could employ another person, but a lack of credit is holding his
business back.
Cllr Des Cahill says he has no intention of leaving Fine Gael, he just
wants to highlight a particular issue.
