Gardai have arrested five people this morning (24/4/2013) as part of
‘Operation Nascar’. The arrests were made during an operation in Co. Cork
involving members of the Organised Crime Unit and Fraud Investigation Unit
attached to Anglsea St. Garda station along with local detectives.
During this morning’s operation 3 males and 2 females (ranging in age from
20s to 40s) were arrested. They are currently detained under Section 4 of
the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a number of stations in Co Cork.
The investigation which is named ‘Operation Nascar’ is centred around
fraudulent motor insurance claims.
This brings to 17 the number of persons arrested as part of this ongoing
investigation.
