Two delegations from Blackpool will attend high profile meetings
this morning to outline their flood concerns to both Cork City Council
and the OPW.
The village was flooded last Thursday night, and fifteen homes and
business premises were badly damaged,
and many don’t have flood insurance.
One group will meet the Cork City Manager Tim Lucey in City Hall
around 10am and another smaller group will travel to Dublin where
to meet OPW Minister of State Brian Hayes around 11am.
The groups will bring with them an 18 minute DVD which shows the
current state of the river.
Last Thursdays flood centred on the orchard court footbridge where a
trash screen was blocked
by debris, and the river bed level was also raised by rocks left in
the river by the council after
bridge stabilisation works.
