The Government is to fund a 5-point-57 million euro project to secure
safe drinking water for Cork.
The Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan has approved Cork County Council’s
Design proposals for for an upgrade to the “Inniscarra Water Treatment Plant”.
There are two elements to the works:
- One is adding extra filters to improve the quality of tap water
- and the other is to better process waste sludge from tanks,
before it’s released back into the River Lee.
Cork County Council will now begin preparing contract documents and
will then seek tenders
