Cork Airport has issued legal proceedings against “three privately owned unauthorised car parks operating in the environs of Cork Airport”.
The professional advice provided to Cork Airport indicates that these are unauthorised developments under the Planning Acts and, despite the efforts of Cork County Council, these car parks continue to operate. Cork Airport seeks a “level playing pitch in the provision of airport parking in terms of compliance with regulatory obligations and the payment of local authority charges”.
Cork Airport “welcomes competition and is taking the action to ensure that a level playing pitch in terms of compliance is achieved. Cork Airport needs to operate as a sustainable business and this issue is becoming increasingly urgent in light of the recently introduced cost reduction programme at Cork Airport”.
