The 21 year-old joined the club from Wolves last January, and enjoyed an excellent debut season with the club, making 22 league appearances in a season which was disrupted by an ankle injury he suffered in August.****

Speaking to *CorkCityFC.net* today shortly after signing his new contract, Dunleavy said: “I am pleased to have signed a new contract and I am really excited about next season. I really enjoyed my first year in Cork, and from my point of view it went really well, so I hope that we can push on next year and finish higher up the table. We are all working hard already in the close-season and we want to improve on last season. We are working on the physical side of things now so that we can come back in for pre-season in good shape and look to push on and aim for a top four finish.”****

Commenting on Dunleavy’s signing, City boss Tommy Dunne said: “Johnny is a good lad and he did well for us last season. It was his first full, proper season of first team football, and I am hoping that he will push on now this season. He did very well last season, before he suffered an ankle injury, but he came back into the side and did very well, so I am delighted that we will have him on board for another season.”
