The Corkman who has become first person in the world to complete the “Oceans Seven” challenge will touch down in Cork Airport tonight.
The “Oceans Seven” is the open-water swimming equivalent of climbing the seven summits.
46 year old Steve Redmond from Ballydehob, West Cork, is an amateur endurance swimmer. He started the challenge three years ago, and then on Saturday he swam the seventh and final channel in Japan.
There will be a welcoming committee in Cork Airport at 7.35pm tonight which will include Steve’s wife Anne and children Siadbh and Stevie
Steve will then greet supporters at Skibbereen Rugby Club [around 10pm], before heading to Ballydehob [arriving 11pm approx].
