Mexico is opening a Consulate in Cork!
A well known Businessman – Michael Barry, from the Drinks importer and distributor “Barry and Fitzwilliam” – has been appointed “Honorary Consul of Mexico” with responsibility for Cork.
An “Honorary Consul” is effectively an unpaid, part-time diplomat, and countries who already have Ambassadors in Dublin, often choose to cement their presence by appointing “Honorary Consuls” in second and third cities.
There are currently 14 Consulates in Cork; for countries like Germany, Denmark, and Finland… and now Mexico!
Michael Barry says his Mexican Consulate will open by the end of June
