The extent of poverty in Cork was highlighted in City Hall last night.
A Sinn Fein motion calling on the Government to create a “National Poverty Strategy” was passed.
It suggests that all National and local policies should be “poverty proofed”. to make sure that those living in poverty are not pushed further downwards.
During the debate, one Councillor, Ted Tynan from the Worker’s Party told a story of a 7 year old child from an unnamed Cork Primary School who fainted due to a lack of food
