Beam placement works on the western structure at the Bandon Road Roundabout got underway as planned last night (Monday night)
A section of the Bandon Road Roundabout circulating carriageway was closed at 11.00 p.m. and the beam placement works got underway immediately. The photograph attached shows the first beam in place. In total four beams were placed and the road was reopened to traffic by 6.00 a.m. on Tuesday 17th January 2012.
Beam placement works will continue tonight when it is hoped to place the remaining four beams, again between the hours of 11.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m. Protective netting and associated works will then be put in place on the night of Wednesday 18th January 2012 again between 11.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m. with this section of the works then being completed a night earlier than originally planned.
Improvement works to various gantries on the South Ring Road are also being carried out during this week with partial closures in place between the Kinsale Road Roundabout and Bloomfield Interchange on the nights of Friday 20th January 2012 and Saturday 21st January 2012.
