The National events committee of Basketball Ireland have announced the venues which will host the 2012 National Cup semi finals on the weekend of January 13, 14 & 15 2012.
The Neptune Stadium in Cork will host the SuperLeague National Cup semi finals (Men & Women), while the Under-18, Under-20 and senior sections (both codes) will take place in the Parochial Hall, Cork and also the Neptune Stadium. A full schedule is available below.
Cork has been the destination for the previous two National Cup semi-finals, which included the dramatic semi final clash between UCC Demons and Bord Gais Neptune in 2010. This season’s SuperLeague Cup semi final clash sees a repeat of that meeting, while 11890 Killester will take on UL Eagles in the other men’s semi final.
In the women’s SuperLeague Cup semi finals, Glanmire outfit Team Montenotte Hotel take on UL, while reigning champions DCU Mercy face Dublin rivals 11890 Killester.
This year’s semi finals are hosted by Neptune basketball club, Brunell basketball club and the Cork ladies Board.
Meanwhile, the National Cup Finals will once again take place at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on January 27, 28 & 29 2012.
UCD Marian lifted the Men’s SuperLeague National Cup in dramatic circumstances in 2011, when they stunned favourites 11890 Killester, while DCU Mercy claimed the Women’s SuperLeague National Cup by beating Team Montenotte Hotel.
