A planning application for an Educate Together School in Carrigaline can be lodged in a matter of weeks.
In welcoming the news Cllr Paula Desmond today (Friday January 14th) said “it is high time that Carrigaline gets this much needed facility for its children. At present the school is located in temporary rented accommodation and is grossly overcrowded.
“Children have to arrive and leave school at different times to cope with the health and safety issues. Children, their parents and the staff have been looking forward to a new permanent school premises for some time.
“I have now learnt that a planning application can be lodged in a few weeks time. That will mean the Department of Education can enter into a contract to buy the land from the County Council and building can begin.
“I am now urging the Department to deal with this speedily as all the preliminary work has been completed by the Council”.
