It is with regret that hairdressing group Toni & Guy Ireland Ltd, today announced the closure of four of its salons.
The salons, which are located in Cork (Washington Street), Kilkenny, Dame St and Essensuals on South William St in Dublin have been put into voluntary liquidation as part of a restructuring plan to secure the future of the business.
Toni & Guy Ireland had operated a total of 13 salons employing 250 staff, many on a franchise basis. Overheads and in particular high rents and salaries, combined with current economic climate are the primary factors that have led to the decision. Grant Thornton has been appointed as the liquidator and there will be a total of 35 job losses.
These employees have been invited to apply for a number of jobs available across the other salons within the Toni & Guy group located in Galway, Waterford, Naas, Clarendon St, Dundrum, Malahide, Blackrock, Sandymount and Lisburn Road in Belfast.
The company want to assure customers who have vouchers that they can be used across the remaining 9 salons.
In 2007 an examiner was appointed to Toni & Guy Ireland. The company was restructured when the Toni and Guy Group, the UK parent of the hairdressing business took a 50% interest in the Irish operation.
