The Speaker of New York City Council, Christine C. Quinn, is paying Courtesy call to Cork City Hall Today, Friday next, October 22nd, at 11.40 am.
Since her election as City Council Speaker, Ms.Quinn has taken on a wide range of issues in such areas as public safety, environmental protection, early childhood education, hunger and nutrition and affordable housing.
The Speaker will be accompanied by her father, Larry, who is from Schull in West Cork and they will be welcomed to City Hall by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Michael O’ Connell (Labour Party) and City Manager, Mr. Tim Lucey.
Later, all will attend the official opening of the Rubicon Centre Extension by An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, at the Cork Institute of Technology.
