Minister Martin Mansergh has agreed to give the keynote speech at the National Flood Forum in Skibbereen next month, according to Cork South West Fianna Fáil TD Christy O’Sullivan. Deputy O’Sullivan had been in contact with the Minister to attend the function which will look to address some of the various flooding problems that have occurred around the country and to look at measures at limiting future flood damage.
“Having spoken to the members of the National Flood Forum I was asked to see if I could arrange for Minister Mansergh to speak at their conference in November in Skibbereen,” said Deputy O’Sullivan. “I have been in contact with his office on this issue and the Minister was in touch with me this morning to confirm that he will attend and provide the keynote speech.”
“I know that this forum will be quite a big local event. I hope that the Minister’s attendance, along with the presence of other experts and high profile speakers, will help boost the conference and provide a greater focus on the work being done by the National Flood Forum.”
“I look forward to welcoming the Minister to Skibbereen for this event and I hope it will help have a beneficial impact on the issue of flooding in South Cork and around the country,” Deputy O’Sullivan concluded.
