Four Cork Clubs are among the 25 teams who will take part in the finals of the Macra na Feirme National Bowling competition kindly sponsored by the National Dairy Council. The final will take place in Cosmic Bowling in Tullamore this Sunday, the 17th October. The Cork teams are Freemount from Avondhu, Ballinascarthy from Carbery, Glanmire from Seandun and Ovens from Muskerry.
Macra and the National Diary Council run five sporting competitions, namely, bowling, basketball, indoor soccer, 7-a-side Gaelic football and volleyball. According to Macra na Feirme National President, Michael Gowing, “there is a variety of sports for members to take part in varying in physical activity, you don’t have to be an athlete to take part in bowling but there are many advantages to bowling, for example it helps in burning calories and works muscle groups not usually exercised.”
Macra and the National Dairy Council are keen to promote health and wellbeing to all members and that’s why we have such a variety of sports for all different types of people to take part in.
